Children Education Pictorial Lessons on Form, Comparison & Number
Antique hand coloured wood engraving
Published London 1864
Pictures were beneficial tools used to educate children before the introduction of compulsory education introduced into South Australia in July 1875. Today our classrooms are places of technology ie computers, calculators and virtual realities. In the days of governesses and early education, lessons were taught in awareness of the everyday: many jobs were often manual, herdsmen were common, rivers were a common feature of many rural and urban communities, as was the significance of livestock.
Condition = Wove Paper (flax/hemp fibres on mesh, notably not wood pulp fibre) general paper light discolouration.
