Original hand coloured lithograph designed and executed by S. Holden. Holden also contributed drawings and lithographs to Sir Joseph Paxton's Magazine of Botany and Register of Flowering Plants  between 1834-1849.

Gloxinia, and its varieties, originally were found in the Andes in South America. However G. perennis s found also  Central America and the West Indies.
